All teens look forward to getting a driver license, and their parents or guardians are just as excited to watch their children face new experiences and challenges. A parent-driver contract can help ease this concern and establish a basis of trust.
It provides an opportunity to communicate openly about the importance of safe driving and the expectations that come with the new and profound responsibility of driving. This parent-driver contract may seem formal, but it just represents all the skills that the child must master while learning to drive. The contract provides a way for the parent and child to reflect on the many aspects of being
a safe and responsible driver. Of course, it’s not an actual legal contract that would stand up in court. It’s more of a pact between parent and teen that says “I’ll be a good teacher if you’ll be a good student.
